You ran as fast as you could down the street. Your lungs were burning and your legs felt like jello, but you couldn’t stop.  Not if you wanted to live.  Thump thump thump; the sound of your feet on the pavement matched your rapid pulse.

The creature that chased you let out an unearthly howl. It sounded like the cry of a raging wild animal mixed with the scream of a dying prisoner. Goosebumps pricked up and down your arms and legs at the sound.  The reason –what was chasing you wasn’t human. Heck, it wasn’t even from your world.  You were being chased by a demon.

You’d always been able to see them. The things that weren’t there, or really, the creatures that weren’t there. You’d pointed them out to your parents before, but they’d always thought that they were your imaginary friends. They’d started to get concerned when you insisted that they were still there at the age of 13. Finally, to keep them from worrying, you just played along and told them that it was a silly childish prank.

But they’d never gone away. You still saw them every day as you walked home from school. They loved to poke you, pull your (H/L) (H/C) hair, and trip you. And so, you decided to pretend that they weren’t there. Pretend that they didn’t exist. It kept them away, at least, that was until today.

You’d broken your rules. The rules that kept you safe. Don’t let them know you see them, don’t follow them, and most importantly, avoid all contact. That was why you were running for your life at the moment.

You spotted a narrow alley and swerved into it, hoping that whatever was chasing you wouldn’t be able to follow.  You heard an enraged howl come from the demon that had been chasing you, and allowed yourself a small smile. It wasn’t able to fit into the alleyway.

You slowed down to a stop and leaned your back against a brick wall as you sucked in much needed oxygen. It had been a close call, but worth it.

You opened up your hand, and grinned at the glint of silver nestled in your palm.  It was a necklace, to be more specific, your necklace.  It had been given to you by an old friend when you two were kids.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey _____!” The little boy with the curling black hair and shockingly blue eyes grinned as he raced over to you.
“Yeah? What is it?” You asked from your perch on the playground swing. The boy smiled and held his hand out from behind his back.
“For you _____!” He said as he opened his small fist to reveal a silver necklace. Your eyes shined as you picked it up.
“It’s so pretty! Thank you!” You fumbled with the clasp as you tried to fasten the necklace around your neck. When you finally finished with the necklace you held the tiny pendent in your hand. It was a (F/C) stone carved into the shape of a rose.
“I’ll treasure it forever!” You said smiling to your friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You closed your eyes and smiled faintly at the memory. It had been years ago, and you had since moved to a different town.  But you had kept your word. The necklace was your most prized possession. And with that thought in mind you quickly fastened the necklace around your neck.  The demons weren’t going to steal it a second time. Not while you were still breathing at least.

A scratching noise caught your attention and snapped you out of your thoughts.  No, it couldn’t be. You looked up and your fears were confirmed. It was climbing up the side of the building, and climbing fast. You were trapped.

If you ran out it would surely pounce on you and you’d be dead. If you stayed in then it could just reach down from the low rooftops and grab you. There was no way out.

Panic began to set in. You weren’t going to make it. You were going to die. All because of the stupid demons that no one else could see.  You didn’t want to go out like that. Trapped like a rat with nowhere to run.

“Hey Ugly! Didn’t anyone ever tell you it’s not nice to chase ladies around town?” A guy’s voice called out. What the? You pushed yourself off the wall and peered down to the end of the alleyway where the guy’s voice had come from.

A young guy stood there. Late teens to early twenties; close to your age in fact. His black hair was tousled and messy, while his blue eyes were fixed upon the demon that was scaling the side of the building.

The demon let out a snarl that would have grown men screaming like little girls and running for their mothers.  But the guy just stood there, glaring up at the demon.

“Are you deaf and ugly?” The guy said. What kind of idiot goes around insulting something that can easily rip his or her head off?  You wondered as you stared at the young man in shock.

The demon let out another snarl and once again began to ascend the side of the building, paying no mind to the guy. The guy growled and looked more than a little ticked off.

“Leave the lady alone and I won’t have to kill you, got it?” He said, anger evident in his voice. The demon was almost at the top of the building now.  The guy sighed and took out a sheath to ...was that a SWORD???

The guy had a sword strapped to his back for Pete’s sake! How the heck does he get through airport security? You wondered as you watched him unwrap the sheath.  The demon reached the top of the building and let out a blood chilling howl.  You cringed and looked up.  Dead dead dead. I am so very very dead right now . You thought as you looked up at the monstrous demon that loomed above you.

It was because of the fact that you were looking up that you didn’t notice the guy had unsheathed his sword until he suddenly attached the demon that clung to the building above you.  Black blood gushed out of the wound that the boy’s sword made.

It took you a moment to sort out what was happening. The maniac with the sword had attached the demon. There was now a chance that you would actually live to see tomorrow. You noticed that the other end of the alleyway was open.

You hesitated before taking several quick steps toward the alleyway. Nothing stopped you. You looked back to see how the boy was fairing, and stopped dead in your tracks. He had been thrown up against a wall, and blood was trickling down his cheek, not to mention the fact that he was on fire. Blue fire flickered around him and the blade that he had used to cut the demon. The demon growled and its malicious red eyes gleamed as it took a step closer toward the unconscious guy.

It’s going to kill him! You thought. You couldn’t let that happen. The demon took another step closer towards the boy, enjoying the thrill of the kill. It was so lame, so stupid, so utterly you, but you did it anyways.

“Hey! Ugly Demon! Over here you big smelly spawn of sin!” And with those words you chucked your shoe as hard as you could at the demon’s head.

The shoe hit the demon right smack in the eye, and it howled in rage and pain.  Growling, it turned to face you. When in doubt, run for the hills. When it came to fight or flight, flight was always your first choice.

You took off down the alleyway, swerving to avoid trees, animals, and other unexpected objects. You could hear the demon loping along behind you. It was quickly closing in. You clutched the silver necklace as you ran, not caring that you were beginning to tire.

Suddenly there was a loud, inhuman scream behind you. You looked back just in time to see the demon fall to the ground, dead.  The boy’s sword, the one with blue flames, stuck out of the back of its neck.

“You okay?” You stared in stunned amazement at the guy as he stepped out from behind the monster.

“Hey miss, are you okay?” He repeated. You could only nod your head. The boy nodded, and then his face contorted in pain. He sucked in a hissing breath through his teeth before falling to his knees.

It was then that you noticed the red stain on his shirt.  Oh my gosh, he’s injured. You thought as you raced over to him.

“Are you okay?” It was your turn to ask him.  He pulled his hands back from his shirt. You had to hold your mouth to keep from vomiting; his hands were covered in his own blood.

“Not really.” The guy said with a grimace.

“Shh. Don’t talk. We need to get you to a hospital now, okay?”  You said as you took off your jacket and pressed it to his bleeding  abdomen.

“Hold that there.” You ordered.  He nodded glumly and pressed your jacket tightly to his wound.

“Do you have any friends who could come and pick you up?” You asked as you dug around in your pants pocked for your phone. He nodded. You dialed the emergency number.

“Hello?” You were met with silence. Frustrated, you snapped your cell phone shut and shoved it back into your back pocket.

You put your hand on the guy’s shoulder to comfort him and an old memory resurfaced.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had fallen out of a tree. It was the apple that grew in your backyard. You hadn’t broken anything, but your little sister, Jane, had fallen with you and was now crying.
“Shhh. Shh. It’s gonna be alright.” You said as you tried to think of what to do. “Here, let me see.” You gently took Jane’s hand and held it in your own. The wrist was bent at a funny angle that didn’t look right. Suddenly, there was a bright flash, and the next thing you knew Jane’s hand and wrist looked fine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“I’m gonna try something, okay?” You said as you wracked your memory for more details. The guy just nodded silently. You put your hand on his stomach and tried not to think about all the blood he was so rapidly losing.

Heal, please just heal.  You thought as you pressed your hand to the wound. You closed your eyes and concentrated with all your might. A soft, bubbly feeling rose up in your chest. Warmth spread from your chest down your arm to your hand and into the boy’s body.
You opened your eyes and stared in amazement as the boy’s wound began to slowly become smaller and smaller until it disappeared altogether.

The boy looked up at you, curious.

“How did you…” He started. You shook your head.

“I don’t know.” You said, shrugging.  He nodded. An awkard silence fell, and you suddenly realized that you hadn’t properly introduced yourself yet.

“My name’s _____.  _____   _______”

“Well, thanks for saving my life _______.” He stuck out his hand. “The name’s Rin. Rin Okumura.”
Yep. I finally finished this thing. That took FOR-EV-ER! But it was fun.

Okay, so to clarify things

-You belong to you
-Blue Exorcist and Rin belong to their respectful owners
-The only thing I really own here is the plot.

PLEASE tell me how I did. This is my first time doing something like this!
